Happy New Year!

β€œ2020 was quite a year!” As cliche as that sounds, it applies to us here in the Blake Household as well. It was quite a year: some ups, and some COVID precautions, but really not much to complain about. We both remained employed throughout the pandemic (thankfully) and so far neither of us have caught the virus. We’re happy on our little homestead, and looking forward to what 2021 will bring!

One Year!

“It’s day one of the rest of our life … day one of the best of our lives”

One year down,  bunches more to come!

This year we’ll celebrate by remembering. ..

Turks and Caicos, being Blakes together, buying a house, buying a van, learning how to be county folk, and now. .. a blue grill to match our blue house (not on purpose,  just because that’s how craigslist works sometimes) with lobster tails and steak

And lots of mimosas.

“You are the best thing that’s ever been mine”

Now on to day 366… together.

Did You Know… {blake and amanda fun fact #1}

When people ask “is Blake a runner, too?”

Did you know… about a month after Blake moved to South Carolina, I got super sick and BROKE-A-RIB from coughing so much!!

I was determined to keep running.

Blake was worried I would die on the side of the trail.

So he started running with me.

And together we ran
and
ran
and
ran.

(this is what it looks like when a boy runs 31 miles with a girl cuz he reallyreallyreally likes her!)

So yes.
Whether he wants to ‘be a runner’
or not…
in one way or another…
We’ll keep running
Together.

The Edge

Where The Sidewalk Ends
Shel Silverstein

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
{For us, we found it, yes we now know}
The place where the sidewalk ends.

The Edge

Where the sidewalk ends.
Where WE begin.

Left, Right, Left, Up, Up, Down

“Wow, getting around will be so easy,”
said the Americans

Who are used to
stop-signs-and-stop-lights
and
driving-on-the-right-but-I’m-not-saying-“correct-side”
of the road.

But we were a tad bit wrong.

And this map is not to scale.

And “frontage road”
does not mean
what you think it means.

{But we made it home alive, and still happily married!}
